This program encourages the creation of \u201csmall island-type research areas\u201d\u2014budding research expected to develop into new research areas with a global presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Starting in FY2025, SPIRIT2 will operate as an award program, funding researchers in all scientific disciplines, including the humanities and social sciences. The program welcomes proposals across the full spectrum of research, from foundational studies to applied research, without restrictions on the project\u2019s scope, scale, or prior achievements related to the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Principal Investigators selected through the internal review process will receive the Kyoto University SPIRIT2 Award, conferred by the Executive Vice-President for Research Promotion.<br>In FY2026, the following ten researchers were awarded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-theme-table\">\n<tbody
