The Kyoto University Lectureship Award is an international academic award established by Kyoto University to honor outstanding researchers who are opening up new frontiers in academia and to inspire the next generation of researchers and students through opportunities to engage directly with their research and perspectives.

At this award ceremony and commemorative lecture, Dr. Clifford P. Brangwynne, recipient of the Kyoto University Lectureship Award 2025 in the category of Life Sciences or Medicine, will be welcomed to Kyoto. Following the award ceremony, Dr. Brangwynne will deliver a special lecture on his award-winning research.

Dr. Brangwynne received the award in recognition of his research demonstrating the important role of liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) in cells.

This event offers a valuable opportunity to explore the questions that leading researchers have pursued and the ways in which their work has opened up new directions in science.

We hope that Dr. Brangwynne’s lecture will inspire everyone—from those just beginning their research journey to early-career researchers seeking their next breakthrough—to envision the future of academia from their own perspectives.
