Overview

Kyoto University, in collaboration with the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Organization, is pleased to host the “HFSP Master Class in Kyoto”.

As the first of its kind to be held in Japan, this special workshop is tailored for early-career researchers interested in applying for HFSP Postdoctoral Fellowships.

This Master Class features HFSP awardees and leading researchers who have served on HFSP review committees as instructors, providing practical guidance and hands-on training on developing innovative research concepts and preparing proposals. Through lectures, hands-on sessions, and case studies of adopted HFSP research proposals, participants will learn how to cultivate bold, international, interdisciplinary, and innovative research ideas—the core philosophy of HFSP—and acquire the skills to effectively showcase them in fellowship and grant applications.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn directly from front-line experts from Japan and abroad about how to design and propose research that meets international standards.

We look forward to the participation of motivated early-career researchers who are eager to expand their careers globally, transcending disciplinary and national borders.

What is HFSP?
Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) is an international research funding program that supports ambitious frontier research into the complex mechanisms of living systems. Special emphasis is given to the support and training of independent, young researchers beginning at the postdoctoral level.
Operated by HFSPO, the Research Grants and Postdoctoral Fellowships are highly regarded international funding programs designed to support innovative, interdisciplinary and innovative research collaborations. In particular, the Postdoctoral Fellowships are widely recognized as a prestigious program for early-career researchers seeking to build international research careers. They provide valuable opportunities to expand one’s research environment and network, and play a significant role in shaping future career development.
