The 10th “Meet Your KU Community!” was held (March 18, 2026)

Kyoto University Office of Research Acceleration held the “Meet Your KU Community!” networking event on March 18, 2026, at linkhub@ in the International Science Innovation Building.

The purpose of this event was to help researchers at Kyoto University interact across different research fields and faculties, and to build new connections.

At our tenth meeting, Dr. Cathleen Ludivine Petit from the Field Science Education and Research Center gave a talk titled “Ethical Publishing: Finding the Right Balance for Early-Career Scientists.” The event was attended by graduate students, early-career researchers, and URAs. Based on her own paper, her presentation addressed structural issues in academic publishing, epitomized by the phrase “Publish or Perish.” This sparked an earnest discussion, including a Q&A session, on how early-career researchers can make practical choices. After Dr. Petit’s presentation, participants shared their own perspectives and thoughts, making it a lively and meaningful opportunity for networking.

In collaboration with the Early-Career Researcher Development Division, this event was planned and organized by Shizuka Oki (administrative staff, International Researcher Support Team), along with URAs Yuri Ohara and Yu Sasaki. The Office of Research Acceleration will continue to support Kyoto University researchers in building broader and deeper networks.
